my (almost unbypassable) way to block websites on ios

prerequisites

• computer
• a long apple id password, which cannot be accessed except through the computer (because it’s hard to memorize, you can’t easily use it to reset screen time settings!)
• idevice

method

1. create whatever limits / restrictions for apps or websites using the screen time settings, for example reddit is my vice so i have it disabled completely
2. disable ‘Installing Apps’ if your ‘vice’ exists in app form. make sure you have all the apps you need before turning this on, and delete your ‘vice’ apps. i have a stable collection of apps so this works for me
3. set a screen time code without looking at the screen lol. or have someone set it for you. basically make the code impossible to memorize

done!

the idea is since you don’t have either password memorized, you can’t easily turn off the screen time settings on your phone. you have to go to the computer and retrieve the apple id password to reset the screen time settings. this creates a LOT of friction in my experience it’s such a drag
